Barbara Lee Sansone Smith, 75 years old, of Saint Charles MO left for heaven the evening of June 19, 2017, with daughters & niece, Laura Weber by her side. Her battle with pancreatic cancer has ended and she is no longer suffering. Born September 12, 1941 - Saint Louis, MO & graduated from Incarnate Word Academy, Class of 1959. She retired from Veterans Administration Medical Center where she worked as Chief of Ward Administration. After retiring from the V.A., part-time employment consumed a good majority of her time. She greatly enjoyed working with Fischer & Fritchel, Inc., her employer before diagnosis, and frequently spoke of returning to work when she could.
Left to cherish her memory: daughters, Barbie Waltemath - Valley Park MO, & Donna Chestnut – St. Charles MO; granddaughter Danny(Cecil) Chestnut - Denton, TX; brother, Joseph(Ruth) Sansone; sister Carolyn(Paul) Strautmann; late brother Richard(surviving Kathy) Sansone; brother Carl Sansone; along with nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews, cousins, friends (Donna P., Margie & Hulen M., Jim & Peggy H., Jonna C., Marge L., Bobbi D., Kris P., and Janet A., to mention a few), & neighbors who loved her. Special mention to Timothy Boyster, who dedicated his time & kindness while helping to care for her as she declined; Lucy Bauman for being a pinnacle of strength throughout life, for being someone she could always turn to.
Waiting on Barbara in heaven are her parents, Joseph(Lenita Wienert) Sansone; brother, Richard Sansone; dear friend, Sara(Sami) Beatty; running up to greet her, grand dog, Lil’ Squirt (Mr. Squirt).
Mass will be held at The Church of Saint Cletus, 2705 Zumbehl Road, St. Charles, MO 63301 at 2:00 pm, Saturday, July 22, 2017 with the Celebration of Life immediately following at the Parish Hall. The family is asking that remembrances be made in the form desired by friends.
