Our Heritage

American Mortuary and Cremation Service was established in 2010 by Timothy and Roberta Rader to meet the growing demand for cremation services and other alternatives to the traditional funeral.  We provide low-cost cremation services without sacrificing the professionalism and dignity you and your loved one deserve.

The business was acquired by Joseph G. Kalmer, a Missouri and Illinois Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer, in July of 2013.  Like the Raders, Joe has witnessed many changes in attitudes toward funeral service.  Acquiring American Mortuary and Cremation Service was a natural fit for him, as he provides similar services with his funeral home, Kalmer Memorial Services, just across the river in Illinois.

In July of 2014, the name was changed to American Cremation of St. Louis, and was moved to 4455 Telegraph Road in south St. Louis County.

Another benefit to using American Cremation is the ownership of our own crematory.  We do not employ a third party for the cremation of your loved one.  We perform the cremation on-site, in our privately owned facility.

We understand the intimidation some feel when preparing for a funeral or cremation.  Our goal is to provide dignified, professional services with absolutely no pressure of buying services or merchandise you don’t want or need.  We’ll simply be there to guide you through difficult days.
