John Gregory Volner, 47, of Arnold died August 8, 2015. Mr. Volner was a member of the Sons of American Legion. He enjoyed skydiving in his youth and was an adventurer at heart. He loved NASCAR racing, gaming, poker tournaments and a fascination with history. He had a skill for working with electronic equipment. John was a friend always ready to lend help whenever someone needed it. He was a very witty man, loved a good joke and had a really great sense of humor. He most enjoyed spending his time with his children, grandchildren, family and friends. He was born December 20, 1967, in St. Louis, the son of James L. Volner and Lonna Jean (Morgan) Volner of Arnold.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two children: Tori Jean Volner and Taylor Ann Volner; two grandchildren: Michael Winterer and Gracelynn Volner and another grandchild expected in January 2016; two sisters: Kathy Volner Lemke of Arnold and Jamie (Duane) Biggerstaff; and three brothers: James L. (Susan) Volner of Barnhart; Michael Volner of Arnold; Doug Volner of Imperial; seven nieces: Katie Lemke of Ankeny, IA, Lonna Volner of Arnold, Casey White of Arnold, Samantha Volner of Arnold, Victoria (Michael Jr.) Freeman of Ankeny, IA, Jessica Lemke of Arnold, and Olivia Biggerstaff of Arnold; seven nephews: Jim Volner of Arnold, Neil Volner of St. Louis; Christopher Givens of Lee’s Summit, Morgan Volner of Rolla, Andrew Lemke of Hillsboro, Benjamin Givens of Lee’s Summit, and Eric Biggerstaff of Arnold; three great-nieces: Chloe Blumer of Imperial, Ava Lozano and Addison Lozano both of Arnold, and aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends.
He was preceded in death by his father James L. Volner; two nephews: Seth Volner of Arnold; Samuel Givens of Arnold; and one niece: Ashley White of Arnold.
Memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. Officiated by Pastor Jackson Watts at American Legion Post 283, 910 Montebello Road, Imperial, MO 63052. Food, fellowship and a Celebration of John’s life will be offered immediately following the service.
