Our friendship was many years ago and I'm afraid I've lost most of the details but what I've remembered are the important ones. This is a story of determination, one of Carlos's qualities i had admired. Several of us had gone out on a camping trip. We arrived at our camp site late in the afternoon and setup our tents. As we got our campfire going to start our hamburgers, one of the guys noticed that there was a very dark line on the horizon that seemed to be growing at a very fast rate. That dark line turned out to be a fast approaching storm. The rain was heavy and the wind was strong, our tents were down in a matter of minutes. All of us, with the exception of Carlos, had retreated to the shelter of the van. He was determined not to let the rain spoil the hamburgers that he had already started to cook. He stood there in the pouring rain with a rickety old umbrella trying his best to shield the burgers from the torrential downpour. The storm moved out as quickly as it had moved in. We joined Carlos at the campfire and had some the best hamburgers ever - so moist.
