Gladys Florinda Hernández Mercado Lixares Egurbides, Noguera, 83, died on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Sainte Genevieve Care Center, Ste. Genevieve, Missouri. She passed away while in hospice after fighting a valiant fight against Acute Bulbular ALS. She was born April 20, 1935 in Río Piedras, Puerto Rico to Isabel Mercado Egurbides and Pedro Hernández Lixares. They both died when she was very young and she was raised by her adoptive mother Quela Modesta Vega. In 1956 She married Salomon Noguera. Together they raised their son Solomon Noguera. Gladys worked as a nurse since 1955 and later became a professor of Nursing at Olivet Nazarene University. Her nursing career spanned over 40 years and has touched many souls. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Salomon who passed August 19, 2015. She is also preceded in death by her brother Lorenzo who was a Veteran of the United States Army. She is survived by their son Solomon(Marvena), granddaughters Felecia and Sheena, and great-grandson Caleb. There will be a private memorial service.
